not sure what is next?
You don’t have to have your future figured out.
Whether you're still at school, recently finished school or your original plan hasn't worked out, career support can help you explore what's important to you, understand your options and work out some practical next steps.
You might be here because...
“I have no idea what I want to do.”
You don't need to. We can start by exploring your interests, strengths, experiences and what matters to you.
“I've got a few ideas, but I can't decide.”
We'll look more closely at your options, what attracts you to each one and what's making the decision difficult.
“I know roughly where I'm heading, but I don't know what to do next.”
We can turn an idea into practical next steps around study, training, work or other pathways.
“I left school, but things haven't gone to plan.”
Plans change. We can look at where you are now, what you've learned and what might make sense from here.
what we’ll work on
Career counselling isn't about someone else choosing your future for you.
We'll take the time to understand you. Your interests, strengths, experiences and what matters to you. We'll explore realistic possibilities, question assumptions and work out what you need to learn before making decisions.
Depending on where you're at, we might explore career, study, training or work possibilities; compare different pathways; work through uncertainty; or turn an idea into practical next steps.
You don't need to leave with your whole career mapped out. The aim is greater clarity, more confidence and a better idea of what to do next.
READY TO START LOOKING FOR WORK?
Sometimes the next step is more practical.
If you're looking for your first or next casual job and want help getting started, Spring Job Starter provides practical support with a professionally prepared one-page resume and personalised job-search guidance.
Designed particularly for young people with limited work experience, we'll look beyond paid employment to identify skills and strengths you've developed through school, sport, volunteering, activities and everyday life.
FOR PARENTS & CARERS
It's natural to want to help without taking over the decision.
Career decisions can be difficult for families too. You may see strengths and possibilities your young person doesn't yet recognise, while also wanting them to develop the confidence to make their own choices.
Waypoint provides an independent space for your young person to explore their thinking with a qualified career practitioner. The aim isn't to tell them what they should do, but to help them understand themselves, investigate realistic possibilities and decide what steps make sense for them.
Parents and carers can still have an important role. Depending on the young person's age and circumstances, we'll agree at the outset how you'll be involved, what information can be shared and what remains confidential.
FOR CAREERS PRACTITIONERS & SCHOOLS
Designed to complement the work already happening in schools.
Waypoint provides independent, individual career support for Years 10–12 students and recent school leavers who may benefit from additional individual support to explore career uncertainty, compare options or work through their next steps.
This may be useful where a young person needs deeper individual guidance, practical transition support, or where a family would value an additional perspective.
Waypoint isn't intended to replace school-based career development. The aim is to provide another option when additional independent support may be helpful.
